In Memory of Our Feline Friends

Sugar

Sugar

Sugar was found as a stray by one of our
volunteers in July 2003. Our volunteer took her
into foster and decided to keep her. Sugar had
mammary tumors when she was found. She
lived with me for 14 months. She was a
beautiful kitty, wonderful personality, full of
affection and love. She became very ill this
past September. We both tried to hold on as
long as we could. She was not in the mood to
bat at her ping-pong balls anymore, slept most
of the time and felt very bad. I knew the time
was coming and had a tough decision to make.
With the help of Sugar's vet and the power of love
to let her go, I made that difficult decision.

My Sweet Sugar
You knew to come to me for care and love,
I know you were sent from someone up above.
Your life was fun and happy for awhile,
You even knew how to make me smile.
You have gone on to a better place,
Where the angels will care for you now.
Through tears I see your shining, face.
I will get through this some how.

Your stay with us was not very long,
You always entertained us with your sweet song.
You sat in your spot by the window
Hoping to find a home.
But the kitty angel looked down and touched your face,
and you had to leave us for another place.
Now you are home, dear boy, and will never be alone.

Sadly missed by the One By One volunteers.

A Tear For Mandalay- By Chelsey Grove

From that warm summer day when I first met you.
You filled my heart with your soft purr.
Sitting by the window, sun shining through your dark fur.
You gazed at the butterflies, fluttering past the screen.

You became such a great friend.
Always happy to see me, making me smile on dreary days.
You always made sure you said hello to me, with a soft purr
in my ear.

A year went by, then you grew ill.
We stuck by your side, as the time drew near.
You let us know it was time to go, your strong purr never faded.
Holding you close, with tears in my eyes, I whispered to you
about the butterflies.
With one last sigh, you were gone.
To a better place, where your window awaits.
Watching for the butterflies.

Thank you Mandalay, my friend, for loving me, and letting me love you.

Sorely missed by Chelsey, Kay, Joyce, and the
One by One Volunteers
